Security Control Procedure
Passport control
Security screening prior to boarding an aircraft
Be prepared – reduce your hand baggage content to a minimum & pack it according to the rules.
Here are some guidelines that will help expedite Security Control process and reduce waiting times at Screening Points:
-
Have your travelling documents ready (boarding pass, ID or passport)
-
Please place in a basket:
- Any loose items in your pockets like mobile phones, coins, keys, cigarettes etc.
- Liquids: It is better to remove from your hand luggage your 1-litre re-sealable bag containing the liquids you carry.
- Baby food – if you need to carry on board baby food & sterilized water, you need to remove them from your bag & place them in the basket.
- The tamper evident bag with the liquid purchases from Duty Free shops.
- Your laptop without its case, tablet or similar electronic device. (Charge before you fly.) If you can't turn your devices on, you may not be able to take them on board. You can charge them for free at various points around the airport.
- You should remove your coat/ jacket & belt and place them in a basket separately from other items.
- If you need to remove jewelry, please put it in your bag to avoid forgetting to collect it.
-
Place your Hand Luggage directly on the belt.
-
If you are travelling with a stroller, after confirmation with your airline that you may carry it, in order to go through Security Control, you need to remove all accessories, such as the rain cover, toys, and changing bag and place them in a basket on the security screening belt. Then, close the stroller & place it on the belt to go through inspection in the x-ray machine.
-
Go through the metal detector
(Note: The metal detectors are programmed based on State Authorities algorithm that selects randomly passengers for additional screening. So even if you don't have metal on you, an alarm may sound indicating that you are selected for extra screening. Please make sure to follow the security personnel instructions to complete the process quickly.)
Please advise security personnel if you have any medical device on you that may be affected by walking through an archway metal detector.
Make sure you collect all your personal belongings from the security belt.
Rules for carried liquids in hand luggage
You may carry liquids in your hand luggage, such as cosmetics & toiletries, only in containers of 100ml or less, in one transparent re-sealable plastic bag of 1liter maximum capacity. The contents must fit completely inside the bag so it can be sealed. Each passenger can carry only one bag of liquids (including children).
Some liquids are also measured in grams, such as toothpaste, hair gels and liquid makeup. To airport security, 100ml equals 100g and anything considered liquid must be equal to or less than 100ml or 100g.
Liquid medicines, baby food & sterilized water for baby milk necessary for the duration of the flight are exempted.
Regarding medication & essential medical equipment, please check with your airline the conditions of carriage before travelling. In most cases, a medical certification, letter, or prescription may be required. Medicines that need to be kept cold in a cool bag with one ice pack are allowed if the doctor’s note states that this is necessary.
Upon x-ray screening, security personnel may need to carry out additional checks on all liquid items and/or interview you to safeguard the proper conditions of possession.
Liquids, aerosols, and gels purchased from Duty Free shops may be carried as hand luggage, provided that they will go through security screening with the usage of new technologies. These goods, together with the original receipt, must remain in their security tamper-evident bag from the time of purchase until the final destination.
Liquids in containers exceeding 100ml not placed in the security tamper-evident bag, are not permitted & will be removed.
