Connecting Flights
Basic information and tips
If you already have the boarding pass for your connecting flight, please check the Flight Information Monitors carefully for your Gate details & proceed according to relevant signage.
Gates A1-A23 & Gates B1-B31 are located at the Main Terminal Building & Gates C15-C40 are located at the Satellite Terminal Building.
Kindly be advised that Departure Gates are subject to change.
If you don’t have the boarding pass for your connecting flight, please proceed to the nearest transfer desk staffed by the various airlines and ground handlers.
If the transfer desk is not staffed, you may use the available CUSS or web check-in unit for boarding card retrieval or you may proceed to the Check-In Hall on the Departures Level (1) of the Main Terminal Building.
Follow Terminal Signage.
Transfer bags are usually checked through to the final destination. Please check your baggage tag to confirm.
In case your final destination is one of the regional Greek airports, even if your baggage has been tagged for the final destination, you may have to pick it up and clear customs at Athens. Please check with your airline.
If your baggage hasn’t been checked through to the final destination, follow the signs for the Baggage Reclaim Area located at Level 0 of the Main Terminal Building, pick up your baggage , clear customs and proceed to the Check-In Hall on the Departures Level (1) of the Main Terminal Building. Find the Check-In counters of your next flight on the Flight Information Monitors & check in.
For further information, you may contact the nearest available Airport Information Counter or use any of the red courtesy phones in order to call the airport’s Call Center.
Minimum connecting times apply ONLY to reservations which include all flight journeys, and any baggage is checked through to your final destination.
Keep in mind that they do not apply if you have arranged your own flight connections, or you need to pick up baggage at Athens Airport. In such cases, you should allow extra time for your journey, as you will need to follow the Terminal signage for the Arrivals Area at the Main Terminal Building, pick-up your baggage and then proceed to the Departures Level (1) of the Main Terminal Building to check-in and drop-off your baggage for your connecting flight.
Extra time should be taken always into consideration depending on the location of the Departure Gate of your next flight, Main Terminal Building or Satellite Terminal Building, & for the required procedures before reaching your Gate, such as Security Control & Passport Control depending on your destination.
Please check regularly the Flight Information Monitors for your Departure Gate details.
