On 20th and 21st March, 2001, the new Athens International Airport "Eleftherios Venizelos" at Spata will be open to the public, from 09:00 to 16:00 hrs.
The aim of the event is to guide visitors through the new airport, one week prior to the commencement of its operation, which will take place on March 28th, 2001.
Within the framework of the visit, site tours will be conducted on a regular basis through the Main Terminal Building, as well as the airside. Furthermore, guests can visit the exhibition dedicated to Eleftherios Venizelos, focusing on his contribution to aviation.
On the above dates, transportation of the public will be made exclusively via Attiki Odos. For the facilitation of the visitors who wish to use public transportation, OASA will be operating express routes free of charge, starting every 10 minutes from Ethniki Amyna Station (departures from Ethniki Amyna every 10 minutes from 09:00 to 14:45 - last bus from "Eleftherios Venizelos" at 17:00).
The staff of the new Athens International Airport will be at the disposal of the guests for their facilitation, whereas certain restaurants will be open during the event. It should be noted that the fixed hours must be strictly respected, and, consequently, entrance to the airport will not be permitted after 16:00 hrs.
