Sounds Greek to me! The border area of Prespes … at the Athens airport!
Friday, September 27th
The border area of
Prespes
is the ninth destination of the Athens Airport programme
Fly me to the Moon-Sounds Greek to me!
With even more images of Greece, the airport’s programme continues
on Friday, September 27th
. Α wetland of international importance, with exceptional flora and fauna species, will be “visiting” Athens International Airport to introduce the airport’s passengers & visitors to the region’s “fairytale” landscape, its traditional communities, Byzantine monuments, and local products.
The Vigla Pisoderi Athletic and Educational Club will present the Prespa dance tradition. Members of the club, dressed in traditional costumes, will set up an improvised feast and enthrall the public. The Presband group will also give a Balkan rhythm to the event, under the sound of their bronze instruments.
Visitors will be introduced to the "plava", a typical Prespa Lake wooden boat, perfectly adapted to the local conditions and needs of the fishermen. Its very dark appearance -due to its being coated with tar- is a hallmark of the lake(s?). Also, the public will taste traditional and new recipes introducing two of the most important products of the land and lakes of the region: beans and “tsironia”.
