Athens International Airport honoured Greece on the occasion of the World Tourism Day
On Friday, September 27, Athens International Airport dedicated the World Tourism Day to Greece, unfolding the cultural heritage of the country in the airport.
As part of Athens Airport’s special day events called “Cultural DestiNAtions”, on “World Tourism Day 2024”, passengers and airport visitors enjoyed a journey through Greek History! With the traditional Greek coffee house among olive trees and aromatic plants being the central setting, the day’s travellers were also “treated” with notebooks with authentic Greek recipes, the traditional “Karagiozis” shadow puppet theatre, as well as an exhibition of ancient Greek technology objects from the Kotsana Museum.
While a LED wall was constantly full of quotes of Greek and foreign personalities, travellers and visitors were "tested" in a Quiz about the customs of mainland Greece and of the islands, "put on" Greek costumes at a photobooth, and "travelled" to the magical Meteora via VR. The event would not have been complete without the timeless syrtaki danse - a modern version of it - and souvenir gifts for everyone full of the Greek spirit and flavours.
This special experience, a journey through time and the unique Greek hospitality, was prepared and took place in collaboration with the Social Cooperative Entreprise PHELLOE.
