Aviation courses for students 14-17 years old

Hellenic American University and Athens International Airport are pleased to announce the launch of the 3rd annual summer Aviation and Flight Academy for high-school students. The Academy is geared to students 14 to 17 years old who are eager to learn about the principles of aviation, both in theory and in practice.
From Monday, June 25th to Friday, July 13th, 2018, the Academy’s students will follow an exciting programme that combines in-class sessions and hands-on learning at the Athens and Megara airports. Those who attend the course “Fundamentals of Aviation & Flight” will also take flight lessons in a state-of-the-art flight simulator.
The Academy offers both introductory and advanced-level courses, all of which are conducted in English:

With the start of the 3rd Aviation and Flight Academy, AIA’s Communications and Marketing Director Ioanna Papadopoulou noted:
“The Aviation and Flight Academy is a special and innovative educational initiative that we are continuing this summer for the third consecutive year with Hellenic American University. For one month, our students will be learning every day about the principles of aviation from distinguished, experienced instructors from the aviation and academic community. It’s an exciting programme that will provide first-hand observation and practical learning and will offer a first taste of the exciting and professionally promising aviation sector!”
According to Dr. Triant Flouris, Provost of Hellenic American University and creator of the programme,
“Our Aviation and Flight Academy is moving ahead, having established itself as a unique and essential model of cooperation between Athens International Airport and the Hellenic American University. The programme aims to provide the next generation of aviation professionals with an academic background in aviation they can build on the future. We look forward to continuing and expanding the programme geographically in other areas of Greece and academically as well, with the addition of new courses.”

Each course provides 45 hours of instruction and 3 college credits (6 ECTS credits).

Students wishing to participate in the advanced courses need to have successfully completed the introductory course “Fundamentals of Aviation & Flight” during one of the previous sessions.
