Within this context, a number of important projects were 2011
implemented in 2011 aiming to improve systems and
existing services. Annual report 29

As part of our e-services orientation aimed at further
improving the airport experience, a new “ATH Airport”
widget has been launched to provide Flight, Airport Access
and Parking details, not only to iPhone users but also to
Android Smartphone users Windows Mobile Phone 7 and
Symbian users. Real time information on flight arrivals/
departures, including delays or cancellations, check-in
desk and boarding gate, became available for all types of
mobile phones.

The first upgrade in Greece of the Oracle e-Business Suite
took place, providing enhanced functionality and new
features to users. We have also completed the new Data
Center facility while, as part of the Building Automation
System network, the data network consolidation was
achieved, enhancing our network bandwidth.

AIA’s Internet bandwidth increased from 100Mbps
to 200Mbps while new reduced prices have been
introduced. Also, Wi-Fi coverage of both the apron and
landside areas, was completed successfully.

A new innovative service was also launched at the
last quarter of 2011 providing an e-invoice integrated
solution. The new service facilitates day-to-day business
needs, reduces costs and promotes environmentally
friendly paperless solutions.

During 2011, the IT&T Business Unit continued to offer its
expertise to third parties mainly in the aviation industry,
under new or existing contracts. In this respect, it is worth
mentioning our involvement in Amman Int’l Airport and
in Aeroportos de Portugal (ANA) through the provision of
technical & commercial consulting services. Additionally,
an IT assessment has been successfully performed for a
major shipping company, a new contract has been signed
for hosting a number of racks in the new Data Centre
facility while the implementation of the CAP (Community
Airport Portal), a Research and Development self-funded
project, is progressing.
