Furthermore, AIA will have an active participation in
the future commercial exploitation of the new system
around the world.
• New Boarding Gate Readers (BGR) were installed in all
terminal gates, combining both optical and magnetic
boarding ticket reading capabilities. This is one of the
very first installations of the new BGR equipment in
airports worldwide.
• The new version of AIA’s Internet site (www.aia.gr)
was launched. The new corporate website has been
completely redesigned offering a range of new services
and enhancements through a user-friendly, dynamic and
modern environment.
In February 007, IT& Business Unit was awarded the ISO
9001: 000 certification. The ISO certification, apart from
contributing to high-standard quality, enables our IT&T
Business Unit to participate and lead bid efforts for EU
and Greek tenders.
As part of such a tender process, AIA and SITA, together
with PC Systems, were awarded for the installation of the
CUTE system in five Greek regional airports. Besides the
significant revenue stream associated with the project, this
award constitutes an important step for the development
of business activities outside the airport community.
Within this frame of activities, AIA’s IT&T Business Unit
contributed significantly to the successful opening of the
new Tirana International Airport, acting as the project
manager of the overall IT&T infrastructure and as a contractor
for specific IT&T systems. Furthermore, AIA’s mission in
Sydney International Airport providing expert support
for the airport’s financial and retail business systems was
also concluded. Finally, the external business portfolio was
further enriched with the agreement for the provision of
consulting services to Hyderabad International Airport in
India and Dubai International Airport.
