σήµερα έχει πανοραµική θέα των αρχαιοτήτων. Η

ανασκαφή είναι από τις αρτιότερες κι έχει προχω-

ρήσει συστηµατική αναστύλωση, µε αποτέλεσµα

ο επισκέπτης να παίρνει µια απόλυτα παραστα-

τική εικόνα του Ασκληπιείου, του πολύ καλά δι-

ασωζόµενου εκκλησιαστηρίου και του πολύ εντυ-

πωσιακού σταδίου και γυµνασίου. Και αν η αρχαία

πόλη σάς εξουθένωσε, η νέα, η Αρχαία Μεσσήνη,

υπόσχεται να σας ξεκουράσει στο... µπαλκόνι της,

µε θέα τις αρχαιότητες. Τα καινούργια σπίτια του
