The world is becoming more and more fragile,
day by day. Some take their cameras and trav-
erse the world to capture the magnificence of
nature, the vanity of human creations, and the
change brought about by what we have come
to call progress and development. The photo-
graphic umbrella of the World Photography
Organisation opened once again this year, for
the 16th consecutive year, to organize the Sony
World Photography Awards, aiming to show-
case the world's best "eyes" among hundreds
of thousands of entries in several categories.
Naturally, it also includes categories related
to raising awareness about the planet, such
as Life Environment, Landscape, and Wild-
life & Nature. The Photographer of the Year
title was awarded to the Portuguese photog-
rapher Edgar Martins for his photo series ti-
tled "Our War." / O κόσμος γίνεται ακόμα
πιο εύθραυστος, μέρα με τη μέρα. Κάποιοι
παίρνουν τις κάμερές τους και οργώνουν τις
συντεταγμένες του κόσμου για να εγκλωβί-
σουν το μεγαλείο της φύσης, το ματαιόδοξο
των ανθρώπινων δημιουργημάτων, αλλά και
την αλλαγή που επιφέρει αυτό που έχουμε
συνηθίσει να ονομάζουμε πρόοδο και ανά-
πτυξη. Η φωτογραφική ομπρέλα του Πα-
γκόσμιου Οργανισμού Φωτογραφίας άνοιξε
και φέτος –για 16η χρονιά– διοργανώνοντας
τα Sony World Photography Awards, για να
αναδείξει τα καλύτερα «μάτια» του κόσμου,
ανάμεσα σε εκατοντάδες χιλιάδες συμμετο-
χές, σε διάφορες κατηγορίες. Φυσικά, και
σε κατηγορίες που έχουν να κάνουν με την
ευαισθητοποίηση για τον πλανήτη, όπως
Life Environment, Landscape και Wildlife &
Nature. Φωτογράφος της Χρονιάς αναδεί-
χθηκε ο Πορτογάλος Edgar Martins για τη
σειρά φωτογραφιών του με τίτλο «Our War».
