The Information Technology & Telecommunications Business Unit (IT&T BU) in collaboration with the Aviation Business Unit (ABU), the Terminal Services (TRS) and with the support of all the departments of Athens International Airport, were awarded a BRONZE award in the category "Transportation & Logistics” at the "Impact Bite Awards 2022” ceremony, regarding the new operational platform called the Airport Management System (AMS), which supports all of the AIA's airport activities.
The new AMS platform regarding the operational management of the AIA Database (AODB) was implemented with the cooperation of the SITA company, which is a globally recognized provider of communication and IT services in the aviation sector.
In addition to the substantial and necessary technology upgrade at all levels (e.g. Systems, Application , Database, Operating System), the AMS project contributes to the Airport's Digital Transformation roadmap, whose main elements are the simplifications of functions, the strengthening of collaboration in the exchange of data and the effective management of processes and resources, thus accelerating the development of the next generation of airport services to the entire Airport Community as well as passengers.
Silver Award at the “Cloud Computing Awards 2022” for the ΙΤ&Τ BU and SES Dept. of AIA

The Information Technology & Telecommunications Business Unit (IT&T BU) in collaboration with the Security Department (SES) of Athens International Airport (AIA) were awarded a SILVER award in the category "Best Cloud Project / Enterprise Cloud Project / Security” at the "Cloud Computing Awards 2022" regarding the implementation of the "eGates" project.
As part of the "eGates” project, AIA has replaced the "Access Control" and "Cardholder Verification" systems with a new Cloud platform that uses state-of-the-art mobile technologies and applications, while enhancing information security controls and further automating entry check and card verification process, as well as improving operational efficiency for both visitors and Airport staff. The competition aimed to highlight the innovative Cloud services and infrastructure that are at the heart of digital transformation

The Information Technology & Telecommunication Business Unit (IT&T BU) of the Athens International Airport (AIA) got a distinction at the ceremony of the “IoT Awards 2022” as the “IoT Development House of the Year”. Also, in the framework of the same ceremony of the "IoT Awards 2022" the IT & T BU of AIA won two (2) additional awards which highlights AIA's continuous effort for distinction in the fields of technology and innovation. respectively.
