The majestic white dominates here,
as you stroll in the alleys and the
fragrances of jasmine and oleander, as
well as the filtered icing that dresses
the macaroons fill your nostrils.
Εδώ κυριαρχεί η μεγαλοπρέπεια
του λευκού, καθώς περπατάς
στα σοκάκια και μοσχοβολούν τα
γιασεμιά και οι πικροδάφνες, ακόμα
κι η κοσκινισμένη άχνη που ντύνει
τα αμυγδαλωτά.
FOLEGANDROS TOWN
An all white castle town that hangs
from a precipice. Narrow alleys, tiny
courtyards, ancient stone farmhouses,
flowerpots with geraniums,
whitewashed ledges, untouched
settlements and a medieval castle
create the setting. Μία κατάλευκη
καστροπολιτεία, που κρέμεται
στον γκρεμό. Μικρά στενάκια,
λιλιπούτειες αυλές, αρχαίες, πέτρινες
αγροικίες, γλάστρες με γεράνια και
ασβεστωμένα πεζούλια, απείραχτοι
οικισμοί και ένα μεσαιωνικό κάστρο
συμπληρώνουν το σκηνικό.

The unconnected alleys, always
lead to the courtyard of some
domed household. As you walk past
whitewashed courtyards, you see
children seated on the steps, eating
homemade bread and housewives
baking in wood ovens. | Tα ασύνδετα
σοκάκια οδηγούν στην αυλή
κάποιας θολωτής κατοικίας. Καθώς
περπατάς ανάμεσα στις ασπρισμένες
αυλές, βλέπεις παιδάκια, καθισμένα
στα σκαλιά, να τρώνε ζυμωτό ψωμί
και νοικοκυρές να φουρνίζουν στους
ξυλόφουρνους.
