Τhe soul of Cambodia with its central tower
rising from the center of the monument
symbolizing the mythical mountain, Meru, is
the largest religious monument in the world
and it was originally constructed as a Hindu
temple for the Khmer Empire, gradually
transforming into a Buddhist temple toward
the end of the 12th Α.D. century.
Η ψυχή της Καμπότζης, με τον κεντρικό πύργο
να υψώνεται από το κέντρο του μνημείου,
συμβολίζει το μυθικό όρος Μερού. Είναι το
μεγαλύτερο θρησκευτικό μνημείο στον κόσμο
και χτίστηκε αρχικά ως ινδουιστικός ναός.
Σταδιακά έγινε βουδιστικός τόπος λατρείας,
μετάβαση η οποία ολοκληρώνεται προς τον 12ο
μ.Χ. αιώνα.
