P erhaps you’re an Athenian too”. With this motto and an
inventive advertising campaign that plays around with
the letters of the Greek alphabet, as well as ecumeni-
cal words of Greek origin and concepts such as history
(ιστορία), harmony (αρμονία) and philoxenia (φιλοξενία), Athens
International Airport invites people from all over the world to get
to know and fall in love with Athens through the “City Pair” initi-
ative. The carriers of this message are none other than 18 inter-
national airports in Canada, the US, Latin America, the Europe-
an Union and Russia. In the spirit of support and solidarity, they
signed a memorandum of understanding and partnership with AIA
at the 1st Airport Chief Executives’ Symposium (ACES), a person-
al inspiration and initiative of Dr. Yiannis Paraschis, Chief Execu-
tive Officer of AIA and Chairman of the Airports Council Interna-
tional-World, which aims to improve Athens’ standing and popu-
larity among international destinations. Official airport magazines,
websites, social media accounts and airport terminal premises will
participate in the City Pair Initiative, becoming platforms to pro-
mote Athens as a dynamic destination in a time that is very chal-
lenging for the city, especially in light of the adverse economical
conditions and the effects of the crisis. Posters, articles, videos,
events and cultural performances that are lined up for
2014 will make Athens more attractive than ever;
the expected audience is going to be huge, with
passenger traffic reaching 170 million people The AnnuAl
