Have you ever wondered if we should
view art as an integral part of our daily
environment or not? Dedicated art aficionado
Christina Chandris has already provided an
answer to this question. With her influence
and cultural endeavours ranging from
Thessaloniki to London and New York,
this dedicated art collector and exhibition
curator is a veritable citizen of the world,
as she gathers various cultural influences
and exhibits that she then incorporates to
highlight characteristic elements of Greek art
abroad, as well as showcasing international
artwork in Greece. The permanent exhibition
at The Met hotel in Thessaloniki, her
personal project which uses art as its main
design concept, reflects all of the above.
«Αναρωτηθήκαμε ποτέ μήπως θα έπρεπε
να αντιμετωπίζουμε την τέχνη ως μέρος
του καθημερινού περιβάλλοντος στο οποίο
κινούμαστε;». Η Χριστίνα Χανδρή έχει ήδη
απαντήσει. Με τις ακτίνες της πολιτιστικής
τροχιάς της απλωμένες από τη Θεσσαλονίκη
μέχρι το Λονδίνο και τη Νέα Υόρκη, η
συλλέκτρια και επιμελήτρια εκθέσεων ζει
ως πολίτης του κόσμου, συγκεντρώνοντας
στον πυρήνα της διάφορα κομμάτια
πολιτισμού, τα οποία έπειτα ξοδεύει
φωτίζοντας στοιχεία της ελληνικής τέχνης
στο εξωτερικό, ενώ παράλληλα εισάγει τη
διεθνή σκηνή στην Ελλάδα. Η εξελισσόμενη
έκθεση του ξενοδοχείου The Met της
Θεσσαλονίκης, την οποία επιμελείται,
αντανακλά όλα τα παραπάνω.
