Yann Arthus-Bertrand
If you had to name only one man who dedicated
all his energy and passion into raising environmental
awareness around the world, then that man would
almost definitely be Yann Arthus-Bertrand. In fact,
he was designated as Goodwill Ambassador for the
United Nations Environment Programme in 2009,
in recognition of his outstanding advocacy work for
the environment. He has worked as a director of
a nature reserve and hot-air balloon pilot before
becoming a professional photographer, while
his numerous projects include the foundation of
GoodPlanet, a non-profit organization that aims to
raise public awareness of environmental issues,
writing the documentary series Seen From Above
and producing the full-length feature film Home with
acclaimed French filmaker Luc Besson. Apart from
demonstrating Bertrand’s versatility and abundant
talents, his projects also have one common thread:
they all reveal Bertrand’s desire to act by suggesting
concrete solutions to the public, encouraging us to
place the environment as the core of our consciences.

ων ζώων, πιλότος αερόστατου, αλλά διάσημος έγι-
νε ως φωτογράφος. Το 2009 ανακηρύχθηκε Πρέ-
σβης Καλής Θέλησης του Περιβαλλοντικού Προ-
γράμματος του ΟΗΕ σε αναγνώριση της σπουδαί-
ας δουλειάς που κάνει για το περιβάλλον, ενώ στα
εγχειρήματά του περιλαμβάνονται η ίδρυση της
GoodPlanet, μιας μη κερδοσκοπικής οργάνωσης
για την ευαισθητοποίηση του κοινού σε περιβαλ-
λοντικά ζητήματα, η σειρά ντοκιμαντέρ Seen From
Above και η παραγωγή της μεγάλου μήκους ται-
νίας Home, σε συνεργασία με τον διάσημο Γάλλο
σκηνοθέτη Luc Besson. Το έργο του Μπερτράν
φανερώνει την ανήσυχη, πολυτάλαντη φύση του,
αλλά και την επιθυμία του να αναλαμβάνει δράση,
προτείνοντας εφαρμόσιμες λύσεις για να βάλει το
περιβάλλον στον πυρήνα της συνείδησης όλων.
