She founded ILCP in 2005 but her passion for photography dates back to 1996, when she gave up her scientific
career to become a photographer and writer. Soon, she made it her life’s mission to “use photography to protect
our planet’s precious resources”, focusing mainly on indigenous communities, and in particular a tribe from the
central Amazon, called the Kayapo. Today, the President of ILCP remains a passionate advocate of image, using
photography and video to document her conservation crusade, also furthers her mission through partnering
photographers with scientists, since as she uses to say: “Photography and science are a powerful combination”.
Ίδρυσε το ILCP το 2005, αλλά το πάθος της για τη φωτογραφία χρο-
νολογείται από το 1996, οπότε εγκατέλειψε την επιστημονική της κα-
ριέρα για να γίνει φωτογράφος και συγγραφέας. Σύντομα έγινε έργο
ζωή να «χρησιμοποιεί τη φωτογραφία στην προσπάθεια για προστα-
σία των πολύτιμων πόρων του πλανήτη», εστιαζόμενη σε αυτόχθονες
κοινότητες και ιδιαίτερα στη φυλή Kayapo του κεντρικού Αμαζονίου.
Σήμερα, η πρόεδρος του ILPC προωθεί τους σκοπούς της οργάνω-
σης που ίδρυσε με βάση την πεποίθησή της πως «φωτογραφία και
επιστήμη αποτελούν έναν ισχυρό συνδυασμό».
