This year, on July 10th, the Athens International Airport is “connected” with the island of Lesvos in one more way: In the frame of its support to the island, this day is dedicated to Lesvos, through a special celebration for Lesvos, its unique beauty and products.
The idea stemmed from … “Ouzofest”. Among the numerous delights and experiences Lesvos has to offer, a prominent place belongs to “Ouzofest”, the annual event that every July “inducts” visitors to the secrets and varieties of Ouzo, and to a special, worth discovering, way of living!
The Athens International Airport, in cooperation with the island’s Chamber of Commerce and with the support of the local municipality and the Lesvos Association of Distillers, co-organised a mini “ouzo festival” for passengers and visitors at the airport, as a preview and first taste of the traditional Lesvos Ouzofest (in Mitilini, July 14th-15th / in Plomari July 22nd), offering good company and the aromas of the Aegean Sea!
The airport’s… Ouzofest will feature among others:

A rich open buffet with an abundance of traditional products and goods from Lesvos!

Live traditional music and dancing throughout the duration of the celebration!

Distribution of a leaflet-invitation to the annual Lesvos Ouzofest, and a lucky draw offering 6 double return-tickets from Athens to Mitilini, offered by the airlines connecting Athens to the island (Aegean, Astra, and Volotea)

As of Saturday, July 1st, a special 15% discount for all purchases of the local “Ouzo” product is offered by the Hellenic Duty Free Shops, combined with special promotion of local products

And, of course, on July 10th, the airport celebration area will be especially decorated, with images and reflections of Lesvos, its traditional local coffee shops, and the Aegean breeze!
