Cargo Uplift

Noteworthy developments during the year include: period in 2015 and partly on increased importation of
goods due to higher tourist arrivals, and
• a notable 11.4% expansion of the international
inbound freight sector pointing to a possible recovery • the continuous upward trend of the international
of imports while the months of July and August outbound traffic that was boosted by a further 11.1%
witnessed an exceptional rise of more than 40%, achieving a new record tonnage of 37,459 tonnes
attributed partly to the low volumes of the same outperforming by 8.7% the 2008 threshold.
