the heart of the Vikos-aoös national
park, the Vikos Gorge, also known as
the “deepest gorge in the world” (in
relation to its length, meets the main
sources of the Voidomatis river and its
crystalline waters that do not exceed
9°c all year around. the verdant
landscapes is a terrestrial paradise
for 1700 plant species, 24 mammals
and 133 bird species. the area is also
home to some of the most stunning
traditional villages.
Η καρδιά του εθνικού Δρυμού Βίκου-
Αώου, το φαράγγι του Βίκου, ή αλλιώς
το «βαθύτερο φαράγγι στον κόσμο» (σε
αναλογία με το πλάτος του), συναντά τις
κύριες πηγές του ποταμού Βοϊδομάτη
με τα κρυστάλλινα νερά, που δεν
ξεπερνούν τους 9°c όλο το χρόνο.
οι κατάφυτες πυκνές εκτάσεις είναι
ένας επίγειος παράδεισος για 1.700
είδη φυτών, 24 είδη θηλαστικών και
133 είδη πτηνών, ενώ η περιοχή των
βρίθει και από μοναδικής ομορφιάς
παραδοσιακούς οικισμούς.
