Jean-Michel Cousteau
Since first being “thrown” into the sea by his father, celebrated ocean explorer Jacques
Cousteau, with the newly invented SCUBA gear on his back, Jean-Michel Cousteau has been
exploring the ocean for more than four decades. Winner of numerous prestigious awards
over the years, he is also Chairman and President of the Ocean Futures Society, a non-profit
marine conservation he founded in 1999. For the causes of this foundation, Jean-Michel
Cousteau travels the world representing a “Voice for the Ocean”. Having pursued a degree
in architecture, he also has a long history of innovative design in the field of architecture and
the ocean, such as directing the design and development of the Parc Oceanique Cousteau
in Paris, an innovative space to teach visitors about the ocean without keeping any animals
captive. But with a surname such as his, it would be ludicrous to expect anything less.

του την παρακαταθήκη του ονόματος του διάσημου πατέρα του. Ως προέδρος της μη κερ-
δοσκοπικής οργάνωσης για την προστασία της θαλάσσιας ζωής Ocean Futures Society, που
ίδρυσε ο ίδιος το 1999, ταξιδεύει σε όλον τον κόσμο και ενσαρκώνει τη «φωνή του ωκεα-
νού». Αξιοποιώντας τις σπουδές του στην αρχιτεκτονική, έχει καταθέσει αξιόλογο έργο και
στον τομέα αυτόν με καινοτόμα σχέδια, όπως η διεύθυνση του design και η ανάπτυξη του
Ωκεάνιου Πάρκου Cousteau στο Παρίσι. Πρόκειται για έναν πρωτοποριακό χώρο που δι-
δάσκει στους επισκέπτες του τα μυστικά του ωκεανού, χωρίς να κρατά ζώα σε αιχμαλωσία.
