Zero increases on airport charges and new developmental incentives packages for airlines for 2005

The consultations held between the Airport Company, the Charges Committee of IATA and Board of Airline Representatives (BAR) with regards to AIA’s pricing policy for 2005 were concluded successfully.

More specifically, within the context of the close partnership with airlines and the Airport Company’s efforts to support them especially due to the encumbrance incurred by the successive increases of fuel prices,Athens International Airport announced that no increases on airport charges will take place in 2005.

Within the framework of these discussions, the charges adjustments for 2004 were adopted (these adjustments had been postponed by AIA for the second half of the year and were gradually implemented aiming at contributing to the industry’s recovery after a difficult 2003. Furthermore, the parameters that will define the charges adjustments for 2006 and 2007 were also agreed.

Lastly, the Airport Company presented its new incentives package for airlines aiming at the development of new routes from existing carriers and the attraction of new airlines, contributing to the joint effort for tourism development.

More specifically:

  •  The new route incentive offers discounts of up to 100% on Landing and Parking Charges that would be valid for 3 years instead of 2.
  • The new frequency incentive offers discounts of up to 50% on Landing and Parking Charges that would be valid for 2 years instead of 1.

Both the Charges Committee of IATA and the Board of Airline Representatives acknowledged the Airport Company's efforts for supporting the industry, while IATA's Assistant Director User Charges, Mr. Laurence O'Toole, stated: "it is very encouraging that Athens International Airport contributes to the airlines effort to reduce their operating costs by keeping airport charges at the 2004 levels".

The Management of Athens International Airport SA expressed its satisfaction for the successful outcome of the consultation, stressing: "Within the framework of our strong partnership with airlines, the Airport Company has always made all possible efforts to support its partners".
