Athens International Airport was honoured with a significant international distinction in the field of cargo development: voted by cargo airlines from all around the world, AIA came out as winner in its category (100,000 – 499,000 tonnes / Europe), in the framework of the 2010 Air Cargo Excellence Survey, organised by Air Cargo World magazine and announced at the recent IATA World Cargo Symposium held in Vancouver. Airline voters based their rating on four criteria, i.e. Performance, Value, Facilities, and Operations. It is worth noting that AIA achieved the highest overall score among all evaluated airports, irrespectively of size category and region. “We are very pleased to win this award”, stated on the occasion Alexis Sioris, AIA’s Cargo Development Manager, adding “especially during these adverse economic times for our industry, the recognition of international cargo airliners rewards the way we run cargo at our airport. In the future, we are confident that, through the partnership approach we have adopted, Athens International Airport’s cargo community will further develop, by improving flows and efficiency, committed to high quality and competitive standards”.
