“Welcome to our home!” The children from the Association “The Smile of the Child” welcome Athens International Airport and its partners to the their newly renovated home

“Welcome to our home!” – On Friday, November 27th, the children from the Association “The Smile of the Child” offered a warm welcome to Athens International Airport, and co-sponsors J&P and TOMI ABETE, in their home in Kareas, following the recent restoration  of the house by the airport and its partners.

During an event organised at the children’s house in Kareas, the young hosts, 34 children aged from 7 months to 18 years old, invited their guests to a rich “family lunch party”, With a big smile, the children from the “Smile of the Child” thanked the airport for its warm embrace since 2001, and more particularly for its latest initiative, that gave them a safer, more comfortable and functional environment.

The Chairman of the Association “The Smile of the Child”, Costas Giannopoulos, AIA’s CEO, Yiannis Paraschis, and representatives from J&P and TOMI ABETE, were all there to celebrate and share this special occasion with the children.

  • Since 2002, the “Children’s Creative Entertainment Area” is located at Departures Level in the Main Terminal Building (next to Gates B1-B2). In a safe and friendly area, specialized child minders of the Association “The Smile of the Child” offer daily, from 09:00 to 21:00 hrs, free of charge, hospitality and creative entertainment to young travellers.
  • The airport participates in AMBER ALERT HELLAS, the Greek programme for Missing & Exploited Children, providing photographs and information on missing children via special airport screens.
  •  Athens International Airport has included the Association “the Smile of the Child” in its sponsoring programme, contributing financially and materially.
