The Hellenic Ornithological Society and Athens International Airport welcome passengers and airport visitors to a new photography ecological exhibition, titled “Travelling with Birds”, a unique journey in the magical environment of birds in Greece.

Thirty selected rare images of the Greek wildlife, captured by the lens of 12 Greek photographers, along with audiovisual material, provide exhibition visitors with a chance to admire the rich bird ecosystem in Greece. In addition, the public will have the opportunity to learn more about the importance of protecting wild birds and their habitats, and become acquainted with programmes and actions that can secure a sustainable natural environment for birds and people.

The exhibition is open on a 24-hour basis to the general public as of Thursday, October 22nd and for a period of three months, at the airport’s Environmental Information Centre (Departures, Entrance 3).

As of 2008, the Hellenic Ornithological Society and Athens International Airport jointly run a programme for the preservation and protection of the Vravrona wetland. The initiative, aiming to preserve this unique environment which combines a wetland and an archaeological site of rare beauty and importance, includes the clean-up of the area, the placement of signage, the improvement of walking paths and the creation of education material and programmes.
