The Athens International Airport, in the context of the artistic collaboration running this year with the “Art-Athina” International Contemporary Art Fair, presents the photo exhibition
“Travelling with a body” by Dimitris Alithinos
on display from September 4th through December 31st, in the “Art and Culture” exhibition space, on Arrivals Level. The photo exhibition of the prominent artist-traveller, Dimitris Alithinos, curated by the Deputy Professor of the University of Athens, Manos Stefanidis, is a series of 26 photographs creating a polyptych and a landscape study comprised of details of human bodies photographed all around the world, in Lyon, in Valencia, Cusco or Kathmandu, 20 or 30 years earlier. The common thread of the narrative is the curve that joins each photograph with the next. The artist - who, apart from his other work, in 1981 started “Concealments”, a lifetime work, a network of works hidden in the earth, that spreads all over the Planet – this time presents the human body in a series becoming a visual essay on time and the way in which time puts human relations to the test. “Travelling with a body” is the latest exhibition presented at the airport in the framework of the joint project / artistic “connection” between Athens International Airport and “Art-Athina” on the “Journey” thematic, on the occasion of the International Art Fair’s 20th anniversary. As all permanent and periodic exhibitions in the airport, the new exhibition in the “Art and Culture” area on Arrivals Level, can be visited free of charge, on a 24-hour basis.

At about the same time he starts the actions “Standing up for the Cultures of the World” and “Offerings”, which also spread all over the Planet. The 195 Concealments up to now spread from the North Pole to the South and from one side of the Earth to the other.
