'Scenes from Daily Life in Antiquity' - Athens International Airport hosts a permanent exhibition of the Museum of Cycladic Art (17.01.2011 - 30.04.2011)

The Museum of Cycladic Art at the airport all year

The Museum of Cycladic Art and Athens International Airport are pleased to announce the launch of their cooperation, aiming to periodically host at the airport part from the Museum’s major permanent or seasonal exhibitions.

The first exhibition to be hosted at the airport is titled “Scenes from Daily Life in Antiquity”, on display from January 17 until April 30, 2011. A presentation of the permanent exhibition of the Museum of Cycladic Art, it invites visitors to take a short journey in space and time: Beginning with the world of the gods, heroes and Eros, the tour continues in the world of humans and examines the activities of women and men in the public and the private sphere, religion, and the afterlife in the kingdom of the Underworld.

At the airport, the exhibition is divided in nine thematic areas - Gods and Heroes, On the wings of Eros, Toiletry and wedding, Female activities, Athletics, The Symposium, In the Athenian Agora, Warfare, Taking care of the deceased. The exhibition is located at the airport arrivals level, entrance 1, area accessible to all airport passengers and visitors everyday, on a 24-hour basis.

Following the “Scenes from Daily Life in Antiquity”, two new exhibitions will arrive at AIA: “The Last Grand Tour”, a contemporary art exhibition that will take place at the Museum of Cycladic Art from April, and “Barren Routes”, an archaeological exhibition organized by the Museum in cooperation with the Greek Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
