A new exhibition for the environment at Athens International Airport in collaboration with the environmental organization “Clean up Greece” (17/11/10 - 17/02/11)
Paintings on paper bags by children from around the world send a message for the environment, expressing their concerns and feelings for the future of the planet, through the exhibition “Marathon around the World – The journey of the Paper Bag”, staged at the airport’s Environmental Information Centre, starting November 17th.
The exhibition is held in collaboration with the environmental organization “Clean up Greece”, on the occasion of the 2,500 years anniversary since the battle of Marathon. Next to the symbolic meanings of “Democracy”, “Civilization”, and “Peace”, all related to the Marathon Runner, “Clean up Greece” adds the meaning of “Environmental Protection”. Linked to the “Marathon Runner”, a creation by the German artist Thitz, and his trademark, the paper bag, the airport’s exhibition aims to awaken our environmental conscience, through art creations.
The exhibition will be on display at the airport for 3 months. The airport’s Environmental Information Centre (Departures, Entrance 3) is accessible to all passengers and visitors and remains open on a 24-hour basis.
