They stem from a family with a long connection with rebetiko: their father owned both a record label specializing in the genre and a popular record shop in central Athens with a vast 78rpm vinyl collection. Therefore the idea of mixing rebetiko with different types of music came about naturally to the siblings that grew up in such a musical environment. In parallel with their activity in Greece, Imam Baildi have a constant flow of live shows and discographic presence abroad. Their 2 albums have been featured on the top of the European World Music Charts, they have toured 3 times in Europe and they give more than 30 gigs per year outside Greece, counting among others participations in some of the biggest European festivals -Sziget, Lowlands, Roskilde, Transmusicales De Rennes- as well as their last year's participation in South by Southwest, USA' s biggest music conference. This year they have already completed a tour in the USA, Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium while they are getting ready for their first show in Canada.
