Once again embracing art and culture in its premises, Athens International Airport, will host, as of Thursday, January 12th, “Faces”, a joint photography exhibition, in cooperation with cultural society “Photography Circle”, that will be welcoming passengers and visitors at the airport’s arrivals. The founder and president of the society, Mr. Platon Rivellis, is the curator of the exhibition, which will be on display at the airport from January through March 2006, open to the public on a 24-hour basis (Arrivals Level, between Entrances 1 and 2 - area accessible to all airport visitors).

Eleven photographers, all members of the “Photography Circle”, are participating with a selection of six photographs each. The exhibiting photographers have exhibited their work frequently in solo and group exhibitions during the recent years.

All 66 photographs - 45 in black and white, and 21 in colour - portray people, either familiar to the photographers or complete strangers, photographed indoors or outdoors. The different approaches of the photographers, although representing a variety of aesthetics and expression, belong to a genre of photography aiming at artistic transformation through a direct and sincere recording. The differences in form underline the personal attitude of each photographer both towards the faces constituting each one’s own small portfolio, as well as in relation to the use of photography as a mediator of artistic emotion and communication with the spectator. Each group of six photographed faces profiles and indirectly reveals the face of the photographer.
