Athens International Airport «Eleftherios Venizelos» and the National Research Foundation «Eleftherios K. Venizelos» - Chania, with the support of the Region of Crete, present the renewed exhibition entitled «Eleftherios Venizelos at the Athens International Airport».
The objective of the new exhibition is to present to travellers and airport visitors the personality and the crucial role that Eleftherios Venizelos played in the history of Greece, through a modern interactive approach. Along the exhibition, an integarted system of six monitors project the Museum - Residence “Eleftherios K. Venizelos” in Chalepa - Chania, presenting chronologically the actions and political career of the great politician in the way Eleftherios Venizelos’s personality is perceived today, ending up to the way in which the image of Venizelos is perceived today, as well as to the activity of the Foundation. Using the interactive interface, the visitor can change the projection of each period displaying a sequence of more information with details, archive photographic material and text.
A meticulous selection of publications in the international Press about Eleftherios Venizelos is also presented, serving as a tribute to the man who, during his impressive political career, founded the Greek Ministry of Aviation, himself being the First Minister of Aviation in Greece.
The creative and graphic work of the photo panels, as well as the exhibition’s video projections, was created by the Foundation’s special collaborators, on the basis of the Foundation’s archive.
The inauguration of the airport exhibition «Eleftherios Venizelos at Athens International Airport» took place on Friday, December 7th, by the Speaker of the Hellenic Parliament and Hororary President of the National Research Foundation «Eleftherios K. Venizelos», Mr. Evangelos Meimarakis. Addresses were made by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Athens International Airport, Professor Nickolaos Travlos, the General Manager of the Foundation, Mr. Nikos Papadakis, the Prefect of Crete, Mr. Stavros Arnaoutakis, and the President of the Attica Branch of the Foundation, Mr. George Prasianakis.
The exhibition National Research Foundation «Eleftherios K. Venizelos» is located on Departures Level (mezzanine floor / Entrance 3). There is a free access to the exhibition for all airport visitors on a 24-hour basis.
