A very special environmental awareness exhibition of artworks created by pupils from all over Greece is hosted at the Environmental Information Centre of Athens International Airport for a period of three months, starting on Thursday June 19th.
This summer as well – for a third consecutive year – the airport, in cooperation with the non-profit organization Ecocity which focuses on city and suburban environmental issues, invite the airport passengers and visitors to admire models, photographic material, paintings, printed material and novel constructions, all of them creations of 3rd High School grade pupils, which describe environmental problems in big cities and reflect the image of their dream-city without exhaust fumes and smog.
The artworks were created during the 2007-2008 school year, in order to support pupils’ projects in the framework of the environmental campaign “ECOMOBILITY, Ecological Automation, Contribution to the Environment". The programme’s aim is to enhance awareness among citizens on crucial environmental problems caused by the excessive use of vehicles, the reduction of pollutants that affect the environment and health, and also to provide suggestions-solutions for a better life in big cities.
The programme “ECOMOBILITY - Ecological Automation, Contribution to the Environment" is organised under the auspices of the Greek Ministries of National Education & Religion, Transport & Communications, Development, the European Commissioner for the Environment, Mr Stavros Dimas, as well as the Representation of the European Commission in Greece.
The exhibition will be on display from June 19th through September 19th at Athens International Airport’s Environmental Information Centre (Main Terminal Building/Departures Level/entrance from Gate 3). The exhibition is open 24 hours a day.
