Donation of computers at schools in Mesogia region

In the framework of the action programme "computers for schools", HÏCHTIEF AirPort GmbH, shareholders in Athens International Airport SA, in a Public-Private Partnership with the Greek State, donated 17 PCs and 5 Printers to seven schools of the Mesogia region, of a cost amounting to 17,500 euros. This initiative fully complies with the continuous effort of Athens International Airport to support and cooperate with the local communities, in a variety of fields such as the important sector of education.

During the donation event, organized by Athens International Airport on December 18th at AIA's Administration Building, Mr. Yiannis C. Tsapalas, Chief Human Resources and Administration Officer, welcomed the 17 school representatives, Head Masters, Deputy Head Masters and Computers Science Teachers, and underlined that the new airport does not only serve as a platform for the movement of a great number of passengers and cargo; it also contributes to the social life, economy, and education of the local communities.

Representing HOCHTIEF AirPort GmbH, Mr. Demetrios Gatsonis referred to the power of e-information, adding that PC familiarization is the students' password into the society of information, as well as into the job market.

The 17 school representatives, welcomed this "significant and generous" offer, pointing out the on-going need for additional similar support.

Analytically, the schools that will receive the PCs and printers are the following: Artemis Gymnasium and Lyceum, Rafina Lyceum, Paiania Lyceum, Markopoulo Lyceum, Spata Lyceum, and the 1st Technical School of Koropi.

It is noteworthy that, the donation programme of HOCHTIEF AirPort GmbH has a budget of 70,000 euros, which will be equally distributed to the local communities of the airports in Athens, Sydney, Hamburg and Dusseldorf. The local communities support programme will continue next year.
