“The aircraft departed from Heraklion and was scheduled to land at Athens International Airport at 10:00 (local time).

“The pilots performed a visual approach.  At 10:01 a.m., the aircraft crashed on runway 03L.”  According to the scenario, the first engine and the tail section separated from the aircraft.  The remainder of the fuselage and wings rotated and slid eastward.  It came to rest to the runway exit A11.

At 10:02 ATC Tower crash alarms the Fire Corps and notifies accordingly Joint Rescue Coordination Center and Airport Services Operations Center.

After a minute, a dark plume of smoke was observed rising from the wreckage.  The fire was traced to a ruptured oil tank above the second engine.  The leaking fuel fell onto the hot engine and ignited.

The evacuation slides were deployed on the left side of the airliner and used for evacuation”.

According to the scenario, “the crash caused the death of 30 passengers and the injury of many others”.
