AVSEC WORLD, the greatest international annual conference for civil aviation security, begins today in Athens (November 18 - 20, Divani Caravel Hotel).
Jointly organized by a consortium of Air Transport Association (IATA), Airports Council International (ACI), European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC), in cooperation with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), and hosted by Athens International Airport and Olympic Airways - main sponsors of the event - AVSEC WORLD 2003 is expected to attract more than 800 delegates, such as senior security officials from international airports and airlines, Civil Aviation authorities, law enforcement and government authorities’ representatives etc.
Key speakers in this major event will be Dr. Laszlo Kiss, President, ECAC, Mr. Michel Ayral, Director for Air Transport, European Commission, Mr. Stavros Konstantinides, Governor, Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority, Mr. Giovanni Bisignani, Director General & CEO, IATA, Dr. Alex Strahl, Secretary General, ACI, Mr. Alfred van der Meer, CEO, Athens International Airport, and others.
Olympic Games security, the contribution of technology / know-how in the efficiency of security measures, and the challenge of aviation security against terrorism, are some of the topics included in the Conference agenda. According to AVSEC WORLD 2003 organisers, the Conference brings together airline, airport, and government officials with the common aim of building up and enhancing confidence in civil aviation.
