Athens International Airport welcomes new British Airways scheduled cargo flight

Athens International Airport recently welcomed a new scheduled cargo flight of British Airways, flying every Wednesday at “Eleftherios Venizelos” Airport. BA’s Boeing 747-400 freighter exceeding 120 tons capacity, uses Athens as an intermediate stop in its new weekly frequency to the Far East (Stansted/London – Porto – Athens – Hong Kong).

Aiming at servicing more cargo flights, which increase both uplift as well as outsized cargo capacity through the airport, AIA considers BA’s new cargo flight a starting point for the development of additional cargo flows through Athens International Airport.

AIA’s Manager Cargo Development, Mr. Alexis Sioris, stated: “This new scheduled cargo flight is the outcome of the joint efforts among AIA, British Airways, and Airport Customs, to develop new, mainly transit, flows, and reflects the integrated approach followed by the Athens International Airport cargo community”.
