ATHENS INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT S.A. Significant increase in winter 2002/03 scheduled traffic

Athens International Airport's winter 2002/03 flight schedule offers 89 more scheduled weekly flights in a total of 1,249 flights per week, compared to the corresponding 2001/02 period, with 46 airlines linking Athens with 96 destinations in 46 countries.
Consequently, a growth of 9.2% and 6.2% is observed in the international and the domestic sector, respectively. Furthermore, international flights from/to Athens's "Eleftherios Venizelos" are operated with bigger aircraft, as shown by the 13% increase in the corresponding seat capacity offered, which reflects the steady recovery of passenger traffic. October 2002 has already enjoyed a 13% increase in passenger traffic as against last year, whereas a similar increase is projected for November.

For the winter 2002/03 period, Athens's top international routes are: London with 59 scheduled weekly flights, and Larnaca with 52, followed by Rome, Frankfurt, and Milan with 39, 38, and 37 flights each. The top domestic routes are: Thessaloniki with 139, and Heraklion with 83 weekly flights.
