On Thursday October 18th, 2001, "Athens International Airport S.A." hosted an event on the theme "Athens International Airport - Messogia - Child" at the Administration Building of "Eleftherios Venizelos" airport. The event took place within the framework of the continuous active participation of the Athens International Airport in the cultural life of the area, for the development and promotion of the Messogia activity.
Within the framework of the event, a presentation was made of the strategy, the activities and goals of the Athens International Airport with regard to educational and environmental issues, which was attended by representatives of the Local Authorities and the Headmasters of the area's High Schools and Lyceums.
The Athens International Airport's cultural activities, environmental training programmes, as well as the educational programmes aiming at the professional orientation of the young of Messogia, were presented to the attendees by Mrs. Anastasia Sideri, Manager, Public Relations, Mrs. Calypso Vlachou, Business Analyst / Environmental Department, and Mr. Panayiotis Perreas, Manager, Remuneration & Employee Services.
Furthermore, on the occasion of the commencement of the new School Year, a presentation was also made of the 1st Greek publication 'The Book of Europe's Youth', of the Pan-European Non-Profit Organization Generation Europe. The book, an informative edition for young people between 15 and 20 years old, dealing with European and other current affairs, was published in 50,000 copies thanks to the sponsorships of Athens International Airport S.A., Coca Cola, Elais, and the Educational Group 'Xyni'. Following intervention of the Athens International Airport, the book is going to be distributed for free to all the students of the Messogia Highschools and Lyceums (8,000 copies). The "Book of Europe's Youth" is distributed free of charge since 1995 in 14 European countries, supported by the European Commission. In Greece, it is under the auspices of the General Secretariat of Youth
