Athens International Airport - Joint Inspection Group (JIG) gives distinction to Olympic Fuel Company facilities for 2005

The Joint Inspection Group (JIG) gave once more an excellent rating to the Olympic Fuel Company S.A. (OFC) for the aviation fuel facilities and operations it runs at Athens International Airport “Eleftherios Venizelos”.

Within the framework of their annual inspection for 2005 - with almost 5 years of OFC operation completed, having delivered through the Hydrant Refuelling System 2.7 million litres of fuel - JIG’s qualified inspectors concluded, in the absence of any recommendations, that OFC ranks as one of the best fuel receipt, storage, and distribution facilities globally and is operated “according to the highest standards in terms of operational technology, quality control, and safety management”.

In addition to JIG’s annual inspections, OFC facilities are regularly inspected by IATA and by the end users such as the airlines, thus witnessing the site’s excellent level of maintenance and operation, resulting to the smooth and safe delivery of quality airport fuel.

The Joint Inspection Group JIG comprising Agip, BP, Caltex, ChevronTexaco, ExxonMobil, Kuwait Petroleum, Shell, Statoil and Total, conducts yearly inspections at 120 Airport Fuelling Facilities worldwide, reporting on the level of compliance with all international standards and requirements in design and operation of fuel quality control and safety. JIG’s inspections requirements are also endorsed by IATA.

Olympic Fuel Company S.A. (OFC) is formed by Olympic Airways, Motor Oil, Avin Oil, BFSC Belgium, and HansaConsult Germany. In October 1998, after international bid, Olympic Fuel Company S.A. was conceded by the Airport Company to undertake the design, construction, maintenance, and operation of the hydrant refuelling system, delivering airport fuel to all airlines using Athens International Airport.
