On the occasion of the "International Day for the Environment" held tomorrow (June 5), Athens International Airport has planned a series of activities aimed at informing and raising the awareness of the public towards its environmental actions. Throughout the day, in an area especially created for this purpose (Entrance A2, Departures Level) passengers and visitors at the airport will have the opportunity to discuss with members of the Environmental Department of Athens International Airport, on a range of issues regarding the ecological profile of "Eleftherios Venizelos"; they will also receive informative material, while they may choose to attend the interesting photographic presentations displayed on the special screen that will be placed within the designated area. Furthermore, starting from tomorrow, Athens International Airport will host the photographic exhibition entitled "Greece as seen by National Geographic" (situated at Gates B 20-28), with rich environmental and cultural references from all over the country. The protection of the environment is of great importance to Athens International Airport. The airport's environmental activities extend to such sectors as air quality and meteorology, noise monitoring, water management, conservation of the natural environment and waste management. Moreover, within the framework of the extensive environmental involvement of the Airport, the consistency and dedication of the airport towards its target of safeguarding and promoting the historical and cultural heritage of the surrounding areas are especially noteworthy.
