Athens International Airport– Athens School of Fine Arts: Young Greek artists’ creations at the airport’s outdoors areas

Aiming at offering travellers an encounter with the modern applied arts, as created by young Greek artists, the Athens International Airport and the Careers Office of the Athens School of Fine Arts launched an art competition inviting creators to submit their ideas for functional outdoors seating proposals, designed to work at the same time as planting installations, for the airport’s outside areas.

The judging committee, consisting of representatives from both the Athens School of Fine Arts and the airport, selected 4 proposals (the awarded students – Ismini Koronidi, Lambrini Markou, Panagiota Monogiou and Constantinos Sotiriou), that were applied and placed in the roundabout area of the long term airport parking area, aiming at its aesthetical upgrade.

This competition follows the recent cooperation between the airport and the School, on the occasion of its 175-year presence in Greece, displaying a selection of its milestone moments through audiovisual material, exhibited in the airport’s “Art & Culture” area.
