Athens International Airport and Alitalia welcome the ten millionth passenger of the year 2002

"Eleftherios Venizelos" airport and Alitalia welcomed this afternoon the ten millionth passenger of the year 2002, who arrived at Athens International Airport on flight AZ728 from Milan, at 16:50.

The lucky passenger was welcomed at Gate B15 by Messrs. Simeone Lucarelli, Alitalia's Duty Station Manager, and Nicholas Bolias, Alitalia's Sales Manager, and the Chief Aviation Services Officer of Athens International Airport, Mr. Volker Wendefeuer.

In the event that took place in the Italian carrier's CIP lounge, Alitalia offered the «passenger of the year» a free round-trip ticket to Rome or Milan, with everyone's wishes for a pleasant trip!

The Chief Aviation Services Officer of Athens International Airport, Mr. Volker Wendefeuer, underlined the good cooperation established between Athens International Airport S.A. and Alitalia ever since the commencement of operation of "Eleftherios Venizelos" airport.

Operating 6 daily flights from/to "Eleftherios Venizelos" (3 to Milan and 3 to Rome), Alitalia is the foreign airline with the biggest number of scheduled daily flights from/to Athens International Airport. From the airport's opening in March 2001 until December 2001, Alitalia has carried 535,000 passengers from/to Athens.
