Athens International Airport: ACI - Europe «Best Airport Awards 2014» winner

Athens International Airport is the winner in the 10-25 million passenger category in this year’s 10th “Best Airport Awards”, in the framework of the ACI-Europe Annual Congress in Frankfurt.

Greece’s main gateway, Athens International Airport, was honoured with this significant distinction, due to AIA’s “high economic performance in a very challenging context, its excellent work in redeveloping its traffic base while keeping a strong focus on the quality of service”, according to the panel of independent judges.

AIA’s CEO, Yiannis Paraschis, said: “It is of great significance that prestigious international organisations such as ACI–Europe, place Αthens International Airport among Europe’s best airports, especially amid these challenging times for Greece. Without any doubt, this is a Greek success, reflecting not only the high level of Athens International Airport’s services, but also our focus and contribution towards the resurgence of the city of Athens and the recovery of our country.”
 



It is noted that, last year, , Athens International Airport received ACI-Europe’s Eco-Innovation Award as a significant acknowledgment of the airport’s innovative environmental programmes and initiatives and its leading approach to environmental protection
 



The Winners per annual passenger traffic category:

1-5 million passengers: London City Airport

5-10 million passengers: Stuttgart Airport

10-25 million passengers: Athens International Airport

Over 25 million passengers: Barcelona El Prat Airport

Eco-Innovation Award: Oslo Airport
