With special joy, Athens International Airport "Eleftherios Venizelos", in cooperation with the Association "The Smile of the Child", inaugurated today the "Children's Creative Entertainment Area", a service which embraces all our young passengers with care, attention and safety!

AIA, devoted to its unceasing efforts to offer useful services to its passengers as well as to meeters and greeters, has created a friendly, safe and innovative area especially for children, in cooperation with the Association "The Smile of the Child", at the departures level of the terminal building (next to Gates B1-B2).

During the last three months, on a daily basis from 9:00 till 21:00, the specially trained child minders offer the young friends of the airport the possibility, free of charge, to liberate their creative potential and imagination through such activities as painting, diverse handiwork, reading, as well as a wide variety of games, according to their age, preferences and mother tongue.

At the same time, the parents or guardians of the children are able to move freely around the Airport, organizing their activities at their ease, whether these involve the settlement of pending travel arrangements or shopping at the commercial area of the airport.

During the formal opening of the Children's Creative Entertainment Area, the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Professor Costis Vaitsos, extended a warm welcome to all guests, among whom were children from the Association "The Smile of the Child". Professor Vaitsos expressed the profound satisfaction of the airport community, especially for the "enthusiastic comments by the young and older visitors to the Children's Creative Entertainment Area, which prove how necessary the existence of this innovative facility is".

Following on, Constantinos Giannopoulos, Chairman of the "Smile of the Child" Association, referred to the approximately 600 young children that have been welcomed at the "Children's Creative Entertainment Area" during the first three months of its operation, and distinguished it as a point of call, fostering genuine entertainment and initiative through continuous immersion in creative activities.

The opening ceremony was complemented by the festive events that followed at the main terminal building, where, to the accompaniment of music, the clowns and the magician smilingly handed out goodies and commemorative toys to the children.
