AIA's Information Technology & Telecommunications Business Unit - Athens International Airport's expertise travels in the international aviation market

Capitalising on its internationally recognised expertise and on its innovative value added services in the Information Technology & Telecommunications field, Athens International Airport now expands its presence beyond the Greek borders.

With a dynamic presence in the international aviation market, AIA's Information Technology & Telecommunications Business Unit provides innovative state-of-the-art solutions to several international airports.

Such expertise services provided by AIA include the design and implementation of integrated airport technology solutions, specifically customised to meet customer modern needs as well as airport operational needs. AIA also provides integrated IT&T services in the areas of entreprise management solutions and business intelligence, to airports, as well as to other transportation related corporations.

AIA is currently involved in the following international airport projects:

  • Dammam Airport, Saudi Arabia
    Assessment of the current Information Technology & Telecommunications systems, and proposals for future systems or improvements, that could be implemented to enhance the airport's business & operational efficiency. This project is performed in co-operation with British Aerospace.
  • Astana Airport, Kazakhstan
    Efficiency analysis of the current systems as regards infrastructure, architecture, and related services. AIA is drafting a 5-year action plan, in order to contribute to the improvement of IT&T systems of the Astana Airport, by implementing state-of-the-art technology solutions (entreprise management, wireless technologies).
  • Sydney Airport, Australia
    AIA provides value added services in the areas of Information Technology organizational change and Implementation of Corporate Business Systems.
  • Tirana Airport, Albania
    In co-operation with Hochtief AirPort, AIA provides design & implementation services for Information Technology & Telecommunication systems of the new "Mother Teresa" airport. At the same time, Athens International Airport designs and implements a wireless data backbone, in order to improve significantly the airport's operational and passenger offered services.

Among the projects already completed, are the assessment of systems and the restructuring of the IT department of Duesseldorf Airport, the provision of consulting services on digital telecommunications for Hamburg Airport, and the implementation of an aeronautical billing system at Sydney Airport. Furthermore, in cooperation with Oracle, AIA has provided services relating to the implementation of the Oracle E-Business Suite 11i application services to the Polish Civil Aviation Authority, as well as to several Greek telecommunications & transportation companies.
