Consistent with its commitment to contribute to the preservation of the natural environment of local communities, on Thursday April 3, 2003, Athens International Airport S.A. delivered to the neighbouring Municipality of Glyka Nera the 3,000 m2 Agia Triada Square, located at Fourezi Hill.

The square, which was constructed in close cooperation with the Municipality of Glyka Nera, has been planted with more that 2,500 plants of the local flora, includes a cafeteria, a waterfall, and benches for visitors. At the centre of the square, there is a map of Greece, in scale, with the main archaeological sites of the country.

The new square is expected to attract the young people from the area, since it is the only square in the vicinity, while there are three schools around it.

Glyka Nera Square is the second green area project of Athens International Airport S.A. in the greater Messogia region, as, in September 2001, AIA delivered to the neighbouring Municipality of Markopoulo a park of 9,000 m2, which includes a cafeteria, a playground, green areas, and an open theater with a capacity of 1,000 persons.
