15th ACI Europe Annual Assembly, Congress & Exhibition (June 22 - 24, 2005) AIA's Deputy CEO, Dr. Yiannis Paraschis, re-elected Vice President of ACI Europe

Athens International Airport’s Deputy CEO, Dr. Yiannis Paraschis, was re-elected Vice President of ACI Europe, within the framework of the 15th ACI Europe Annual Assembly, which was concluded in Munich on June 24th, having brought together airports and airlines, to tackle the challenges ahead and develop an even stronger relationship.

The “voice of Europe’s airports”, ACI Europe, based in Brussels, represents the interests of some 400 airports in 45 countries, its members accounting for over 90% of commercial air traffic in Europe. By actively seeking the views of airport members, ACI Europe generates comprehensive common policies that serve as a reference to the entire aviation industry (http://www.aci-europe.org).

Athens International Airport S.A. is a regular member of ACI Europe since the airport’s opening in 2001, and an associate member since the Airport Company’s establishment in 1996.

This year’s Annual Assembly, Congress and Exhibition, hosted by Munich Airport International, served as a forum for airports, airlines and other delegates from the aviation industry to benefit from the exchange of know-how and experiences on best practices. The 16th ACI Europe Annual Assembly & Congress will be hosted in June 2006 by Athens International Airport S.A.

EU-China Aviation Summit / June 30th – July 1st

  • Representing ACI Europe, Vice President Dr. Yiannis Paraschis will join the EU delegation in Beijing for the first EU-China Aviation Summit (June 30th – July 1st), where top-level policy makers and aviation industry executives from the EU and China representing airlines, airports, and the aerospace industry, will be exploring the opportunities of enhancing their cooperation (http://www.euchinaaviationsummit.com).
  • At the same time, Dr. Paraschis will meet with Chinese airline representatives to promote the airline connection of Athens to China in the near future. Furthermore, Athens International Airport’s Deputy CEO will be meeting with Beijing International Airport executives, in order to discuss AIA’s potential collaboration with Beijing Airport in the context of the Olympic Games’ organizational preparation.
