“1%: “Privilege” in a Time of Global Inequality”

New photo exhibition at the airport, in cooperation with the Athens Photo Festival

15.06 – 15.10.2016

Inviting visitors and passengers to a stimulating photography “dialogue”, the Athens International Airport, in cooperation with the Athens Photo Festival, hosts at its premises, from June 15th through October 15th, 2016, a photo exhibition titled:

“1%: Privilege in a Time of Global Inequality”

As part of this year’s Athens Photo Festival, one of the oldest photography festivals in the world, and having the Benaki Museum as its focal point, the exhibition at the airport attempts to approach the issue of the exploding gap between poverty and wealth in the world.

Through documentary shots by famous photographers, the exhibition displays the growing inequality between contradictory life conditions, leading to the “1%” phenomenon: the richest one percent of the world’s population owns almost half of total assets.

The exhibition “1%: Privilege in a Time of Global Inequality”, is open daily on a 24hour basis, at the exhibition area "Art and Culture", at the Arrivals Level of the Airport (All Users Area).
