8. Financial incentives Aiming to promote the development of cargo traffic through Athens, Athens International Airport offers a special incentives program valid for three (3) years for airlines planning to operate scheduled cargo flights. In particular, AIA invites airlines to introduce new or additional cargo services by taking advantage of the resulting reduced operating costs and mitigating the risk involved during the first years of operation by offering the following discounts on airport charges: Year 1: 50.0% reduction of the published Landing and Parking Charges Year 2: 37.5% reduction of the published Landing and Parking Charges Year 3: 25.0% reduction of the published Landing and Parking Charges Any financial obligation arising during each calendar year towards the airline as a result of these incentives, is settled retroactively in a form of discount against any landing and parking charges payments at the beginning of the following calendar year.
