of the airport and the harmonious co-existence with the
local communities. The development of a Photovoltaic Park
within the airport site, which as per our application to the
regulatory authorities is targeting 8MW, is underlined by
the fact that it will contribute to the reduction of at least
10,000 tonnes of CO yearly, corresponding to an annual
CO absorption capacity of 1.5 million trees.
The new Business Plan that will be developed in 008
will encapsulate the successful development of Athens
International Airport, already among the most profitable
enterprises in Greece and a model airport company
worldwide. It will also reflect the prospects of further growth,
while facing the future investment and capacity growth
challenges with a balanced financial structure and the ability
to maintain excellent operational performance.
Athens International Airport’s operation up to now has
been marked by strong traffic growth, quality passenger
services and operational excellence. Setting and achieving
higher goals every year is one tough challenge for an airport
which has already developed into an exemplary business
model. The strong bonds of the airport community and the
excellent track record of AIA’s team are the assets upon
which we build in order to act upon future challenges. In a
dynamic aviation industry, adopting in our business model
the necessary changes and the intensive use of technology
and innovation, are key ingredients in order to continue
achieving high levels of satisfaction to our users and value
for our stakeholders.
